I was actually worried that it was going to blow away my access to TE2 so kudos to the TE3 team for that!įigure 1: External Tools in Power BI DesktopĪnd, just in case you are wondering and want to install the free version of Tabular Editor, you can still do that here. I fired up Power BI Desktop and was pleasantly surprised to find that TE3 had registered itself in the External Tools section of the Power BI ribbon and, even better, had not replaced my original installation of TE2. A short next, next, finish later and we're all set apparently. Nice, fast 40 MB download of an MSI package and double-click. Nice, simple download page, there is even a 64-bit version. So, hoping I don't drown in a river, here we go!Īlright, first you have to download and install the tool before you can use it. Which, let's all be honest, is in all likelihood almost certain to come out quite cheeky but I can't help myself, it's in my nature. ended up feeling that an actual proper response to her inquiry and hence I figured I'd download the evaluation copy of TE3 and take a shot at some kind of review or something. Now, I gave a bit of a cheeky response to I'm quite certain, surprises zero percent of the population. TE3 comes with a laundry list of new features but, the question remains, is it worth paying for? The free edition is still available but the new version, Tabular Editor 3 (TE3) is now a paid subscription. With Tabular Editor you can do things that you can't do in Power BI Desktop, like create Calculation Groups for example. For those of you that do not know, until recently Tabular Editor was a free, open source tool that allowed direct editing of tabular data models created by Power BI. Essentially the question is about whether the new paid version of Tabular Editor is "worth it".

It’s still probably one of the weakest tracks though. It starts off a little too softly to make much of an impact, but again has that dark, brooding build towards the end. ‘Our Revels’ follows with another gentle track. It’s one of the lower key tracks which maintains a quiet sense of sadness, though it has a slight build towards the end similar to a lot of the tracks here. ‘The Wingless Thrush’ is a particularly poignant number to match the ‘Meal Ticket’ story it goes along with. ‘Near Algodones’ is a particularly dark, electric slide guitar number that shivers with tension, bringing in timpani towards the end to accentuate this. ‘Carefree Drifter’ (performed by David Rawlings & Gillian Welch) is another very short harmonica-led cue that may not last long but plays its part. There are a few short little asides on the soundtrack that all have their charm, like the fun honky-tonk piano of ‘Randall Collins’. It’s one of the most enjoyable moments of the film and works well in audio form too. ‘Little Joe the Wrangler (Surly Joe)’ is a fun and catchy song with plenty of dark humour (“Where the heck his face has got to, we don’t know”). Like most of the songs on the album, it verges on parody but is done with enough respect for the genre/style and subtly clever writing that it’s actually rather effective as a ballad in its own right. ‘When a Cowboy Trades His Spurs For Wings’ (with Willie Watson joining Nelson) is a sweet sentimental number with a hint of tongue-in-cheek in its lyrics. The other Nelson songs are spread throughout the album, which otherwise plays out the tracks in chronological order. It’s got a catchy tune and a quirky backing with some warped whistles (or possibly saw?) providing a counterpoint to the melody. It’s a lightly comic song, like Nelson’s other contributions here. ‘Cool Water’ is the first of the Tim Blake Nelson tracks, from the ‘Ballad of Buster Scruggs’ segment of the anthology film. As with a lot of Burwell’s work with the Coens, there’s a dark edge to most of the tracks, but there’s also a sweetness and warmth coming out on numerous occasions. This and others mix a traditional western style sound with Burwell’s typical brooding and subtly grand feel heard in soundtracks like those for Miller’s Crossing and Fargo. Things get off to a gentle start with ‘The Book’, which slowly unfolds from a simple guitar line to a lush orchestral bloom. I loved the film (it made my top ten of the year), so did the soundtrack match up to it? For once I made sure to watch the film beforehand, hence the delayed write-up. The Ballad of Buster Scruggs saw the brothers venture back into the western genre after True Grit and once again Burwell was there with them to provide the score, of which I received a CD to review. The work Burwell produces for them is almost always great too, so I don’t blame the Coens for very rarely letting anyone else give it a go. The Coen Brothers have had a long working relationship with Carter Burwell all the way back to their debut, Blood Simple. measuring stick for comparing whether a stock is overvalued or undervalued. There are many strategies that governments can rely on to prevent corruption in the face of a crisis, but keeping corruption under control is much more difficult where robust anti-corruption mechanisms are not already in place. Our findings suggest that in an increasingly uncertain world, where emergencies abound, fighting corruption is key to ensuring better preparedness for crises responses. Countries that perform poorly in controlling corruption tend to breach human rights and democratic norms in their management of the COVID-19 pandemic.A lack of transparency in the allocation of resources – a practice positively associated with corruption – weakens the efficiency of crisis responses.Corruption diverts funds from essential services such as healthcare, leaving countries around the world vulnerable and under-prepared to deal with public health crises. With the release of the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2020, we looked at how corruption undermines states’ capacity to respond to emergencies such as the dual health and economic crises brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. The handling of the COVID-19 pandemic around the world perfectly illustrates the need for integrity in the management of crises. This, in turn, undermines fair, efficient and equitable responses to crises. The large sums of money required to deal with emergencies, the need for urgency in disbursing aid or economic stimulus packages and the risk of undue influence over policy responses form a perfect storm for corruption as they can increase opportunities for it to occur, while weakening the mechanisms in place to prevent it. "I think Madonna gave me a lot of hope and strength and stuff when I needed it, even as a kid," said Petras.Corruption and emergencies feed off each other, creating a vicious cycle of mismanagement and deeper crisis. "I feel like I have a special connection with Madonna too because I always felt like she pushed gender, and she wasn’t necessarily only super-feminine or super-masculine, and she just is Madonna," Petras says. She hailed Madonna for being an inspiration whom she has looked up to. Meanwhile, Petras is set to start her Feed the Beast Global Tour later this year. Interestingly, on the occasion, Petras had become the first transgender woman to win a Grammy. After her speech, she turned around and mouthed to me, 'Go get it, bitch.' That made me feel like, I got this," said Petras.ĪLSO READ| Tom Cruise says he can do a better Mission: Impossible and Top Gun: Maverick In an interaction with, Petras has revealed what Madonna said to her before her Grammy Awards performance. Kim Petras gave a rousing performance at the Grammy Awards 2023 in February. The most entertaining character we’re introduced to is Chase Hudson, the 19-year-old ur-TikTok e-boy who, after spending his high school years preening for his smartphone camera on earlier livestreaming and video apps, has since pivoted to pop-punk rocker. Outside the house but still connected with the group, there’s 22-year-old Larray Merritt, a queer biracial creator whose fans revolted when he joined the Hype House because of its general straightness, whiteness, and cringiness, and Nikita Dragun, a trans woman and beauty creator who describes the Hype House as “a fucking mess.” Those who live in the actual mansion include Alex Warren, a 20-year-old who says he spends between $50,000 to $70,000 a month on YouTube prank videos his girlfriend Kouvr Annon, who absolutely hates being the butt of said pranks Vinnie Hacker, an 18-year-old thirst trap TikToker who’s the buzziest of the bunch but also seems to have a pretty serious anger issue and three other sweatshirted, floppy-haired white guys who fill the roles of “just happy to be included” despite never actually contributing. The problem here is that the Hype House has been hemorrhaging its most famous members since practically the beginning, and at this point (filming took place in early 2021) most of what’s left are the members who haven’t become famous enough to break out on their own. In fact, the only ambition they seem to share is having a Netflix show, and ironically, being in the Hype House is the only way to get one. This, ultimately, is the overarching dramatic tension of the series: Petrou versus the handful of other members who are either too complacent or too focused on their own projects to film the content that makes the collective money. He’s the self-described “dad” of the group, and also the only one who seems to care about the fate of the Hype House at all. And when you get a taste of fame and decide you want more of it, you move to LA.Ī post shared by Hype House whole goal with this house in the first place was: Why can’t people who hit millions of other people be as famous as A-list celebrities?” says Thomas Petrou, the 22-year-old co-founder of the collective, in his first moment on screen. TikTok, at that point, only had a handful of stars to break out beyond the app - the Hype House’s Charli D’Amelio, Addison Rae, and D’Amelio’s boyfriend Chase Hudson among them - but within the app itself, more and more teenagers started growing their audiences to hundreds of thousands, then millions, of followers. It was part of a wave of Los Angeles social media mansions to pop up in the first half of 2020, all with the same purpose: to use each other’s clout to build more of it. Almost exactly two years ago, a splashy feature in the New York Times introduced the arrival of the Hype House, a collective of mostly white, attractive teenagers who had recently become famous on an app that was only just beginning to be part of the national lexicon. To understand what’s going on in this bizarre, entirely-uneventful-but-also-sort-of-fascinating television show, it’s important to know why it exists in the first place.
